Built in 1897, we have successfully held many services, youth activities and programs, and various community outreach events in our sanctuary and fellowship hall. We pride ourselves as being the “Cathedral in the Community” as we have been worshipping in our current facility for over 126 years. We, at Mount Olive, have seen a considerable increase in growth and have now experienced the growing pangs, both physically and spiritually. Unfortunately, due to the wear and tear of our worship facility, there is now a growing need for a new worship edifice. We are currently in the process of securing plans for a new building to be erected on our property that would include an administration wing, youth spaces for the youth of our community, that will provide after school learning, youth development, and enrichment training and a brand-new sanctuary that would accommodate some 400 persons.

We are asking for your support to help us erect our brand-new worship facility which will benefit all who are connected to this venture. Mount Olive Baptist Church was the first edifice established in this 200-year-old community. The first African American school system in the city of Virginia Beach was established within the four walls of Mount Olive Baptist Church and our church was the site for local social justice meetings for SCLC during the Civil Rights Movement, which afforded Mount Olive to be the meeting place for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As you can see, we are a very important part of our community and we believe that with your help we can continue building on that legacy.

Please help us make a difference in the lives of the disenfranchised, marginalized, and hopeless, youth, young adults, and seniors in our neighboring communities. All donations to Mount Olive Baptist Church are tax deductible and a tax receipt will be issued immediately upon receipt of your donation. Whether big or small, every donation is welcomed and appreciated. We, at Mount Olive Baptist Church and myself, genuinely thank you for your time and consideration. Should you have any further questions, please contact me at 757-422-3797.
